Everett E. Ziemer(1944-2011)
Everett E. Ziemer, 67, Monon, died at 9:41 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 in Monon.
He was born April 1, 1944 to Ruben and Dorothy Belle (Caldwell) Ziemer at Hoodoo Crossing, Monon. On Oct. 21, 1972, at the home of Rev. Ross in Monticello, he married Mary E. Wouster. She survives.
Everett had lived in Monon all of his life and was raised on a farm.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during Vietnam.
He had worked at the old Bryan Manufacturing in Monticello for 16 years and the former Monon Trailer in Monon for 24 years. Everett was very active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #2788 in Monon. He had served as the president in 1994 and was the secretary for 10 years, just recently retiring his position. Everett was in the lodge for a total of 44 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #492 of West Lafayette, Am Vets Post and VFW Post, both of Monticello. Everett loved his entire family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman.
Other survivors include daughters, Susan Johnson, West Lafayette and Cindy (Gene) Wilson, Lakeland, Fla.; step-daughter, Tresa (John) Pickett-Baldwin, West Lafayette; daughter/granddaughter, Jessica (companion James Powell) Ziemer, Reynolds; grandkids, Erica (Shaun) Coomey, West Lafayette, Jeremiah Drye, Lakeland, Fla., Adrianne Sartwell, Fort Wayne, and Scott Baldwin, West Lafayette; great-grandkids, Troy Wheeldon, Makayla and Evan Coomey, all of West Lafayette, Seth, Kenzie and Cami Scott, all of Reynolds, and Cody, Austin and Morgan Drye, all of Lakeland, Fla.; brothers, Richard "Dick" (Darlene) Ziemer, Buffalo and Larry (Donetta) Ziemer, Monticello; sister, Luella (Harold) Tully, Chalmers; best friend and buddy, Joyce Doyle, Monon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Dorothy (Caldwell) Ziemer; sister, Shirley Lockard; and grandsons, David Kiser and Gregory Sartwell.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello. Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge Services will be held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests casual dress.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church officiating.
Burial will take place in Bedford Cemetery in rural Monon. Full military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 492 of West Lafayette.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
